Laayoune ready for Futsal party

The Total Futsal Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2020 promises to be exciting and historic.

Morocco has laid down an exciting program as it prepares to host the competition for the first time ever in the city of Laayoune beginning January 28 to February 7.

CAF Second Vice President, Faouzi Lekjaa, also president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) had indicated that the city of Laâyoune and the southern provinces of the Moroccan Kingdom have shown huge potential to host major sporting events at continental and global levels thanks to the development policy overseen under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

With everything looking in tip top shape, Morocco has wholeheartedly fulfilled all the specifications to host a magnificent event.

Stadiums, atmosphere, climate

Morocco has set the bar high in terms of organization. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has ensured all the facilities are world class towards hosting a successful tourney. In other words, the city of Laayoune is ready.

From the airport, you can feel the entire city vibrating in excitement for the championship and to welcome visitors from across the continent. The posters all over the city, the beautiful environment and the scenery, all give a warm welcome to the people.

Impressive infrastructure

The Al Hizam and Massira de Laâyoune Halls hosting the competition are two high-level facilities that meet international standards.

The Al Hizam hall, which will host 11 of the 14 games in the tournament has a ground with an area of ​​1,086sq metres, a capacity of 627 seats with a well equipped media stand and with 24 LED screens to make the atmosphere more electric.

The competition site also includes Fan Zone with a giant screen for broadcasting the games and a public grandstand and entertainment areas.

The Masira Hall which will host two group stage matches has a sports floor with an area of 1,214sq metres and just like the Al Hizam Hall has a complete media area and 24 LED screens all round.

The hall is also equipped with fibre optic cables to make life easier for the fans as well as the smooth running of the sophisticated broadcast equipment.

For those who wish to be in the Halls supporting their favorite teams, ticket sales have since commenced.

The competition kicks off on Tuesday with Equatorial Guinea taking on Mauritius at 17H30 before hosts Morocco take on Libya in the late kick off at 21H00 local time.
