The CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers has reached fever-pitch, with the four semi-finalists of the competition confirmed on Monday afternoon, following the last group matches in Durban, South Africa.
Botswana’s Double Action Ladies will take on Costa do Sol of Mozambique in the first semi-final of the day on Wednesday, 06 September at the Sugar Ray Stadium, before home side, Mamelodi Sundowns face off against reigning champions, Green Buffaloes of Zambia in a repeat of last season’s final in the late afternoon fixture.
Double Action Ladies finished top of Group A ahead of the reigning champions on Wednesday, capping off an impressive group stage run with a clinical display of a 4-0 victory over Ntopwa FC of Malawi.
The result sees the Botswanan side top the standings with two wins and a draw followed by the defending champions who were saved by a late strike from Esther Banda when they narrowly edged Lesotho Defense Force 2-1 after a closely contested encounter.
In Group B, Sundowns continued with their high-scoring spree after cruising past Mozambique’s Costa do Sol by 4-0 led by the brace of veteran striker, Andisiwe Mgcoyi.
Fortunately for the Mozambiquans, their six points collected in their first two matches against Young Buffaloes of Eswatini and Comoros’ Olympic de Moroni sees them through to the last four, despite the heavy defeat.
